Sleep and dreaming after a near-death experience
An exploratory study using wrist actigraphy
Funded by: The Bial Foundation
Date: November 2021 - November 2024
Amount Awarded: €44.000 (Approx $75,500)
Project Team: Dr Nicole Lindsay (PI), A/P Natasha Tassell-Matamua, Dr Rosemary Gibson.
This study is exploring the sleep patterns of people who have experienced a near-death experience (NDE). Recent research of Drs Lindsay and Tassell-Matamua used questionnaires to provide several foundational insights into self-identified sleep patterns, as well as waking function and wellbeing after NDEs.
This project extends this research further by incorporating wrist-worn actigraphy, a validated objective measure, to record core details concerning the timing, duration, efficiency and regularity of sleep. It will also explore the nature of dreaming after NDEs.
If you have had a near-death incident and would like to part in this study, please contact Nicole.
